I was listening to Twilight (sue me), and I heard the word blasé, and I could not recall the meaning, so I looked it up. According to Merriam-Webster:
: apathetic to pleasure or excitement as a result of excessive indulgence or enjoyment : world-weary
And for world-weary:
: feeling or showing fatigue from or boredom with the life of the world and especially material pleasures
Since my mind has been dwelling on the Bible recently, my mind immediately shot to King Solomon, a man who claimed to have done everything worth doing. A man who was given spades of wisdom, and all the possessions he could ever crave, and he says things like "there is nothing new under the sun". The curse of the quest to have everything is that when you get there, it's still not enough. What you have really done is feed your own need for more things; like a bad diet, you have spoiled your own taste for moderation and have grown fat and unhealthy.
Not sure why that rings so clearly in my mind right now, but it is what it is.

I'm more ambitious than what I've got in my current situation, but heck, maybe you're satisfied with your life as-is. Ain't nothing wrong with that. :)
It really stems from a specific situation that came up for me often in years past, when I played a lot of games, or watched a lot of movies, or did anything serially that was easy to "swap out", so to speak. I would play a game for days, then I would pop in another, and that would go for a few days, then my attention span would slowly get shorter, because I was numbing to the stimulation. Eventually it would go for hours, and finally minutes, until I would barely get the game in before I was annoyed and wanted to play something else, and there was nothing more compelling to play. Maybe that's what drug overload is like, it's a similar concept of abuse. Like you said, moderation is important.
